Koroni, Messinia and the Greek Sun Coast

We call Messinia (the area around Koroni) The Greek Sun Coast because of
its fine climate. Many people don't know how cold and unpleasant other parts of Greece can be in winter (like the islands in the Aegean).

The nearest airport is Kalamata (40 minutes away, many charter flights from England, and also from Holland, France and Norway).
Kalamata has excellent bus connections with Athens and Athens International Airport.

Above one of the many lovely views in Messinia, this time towards Finikounda on the Western side.
Wherever you are, you are never more than 5-6 km from the sea.

Messinia is "Olive Growing Country" and the big, black Kalamata olives are famous. There is nothing like olive oil and pickled olives from your own plot!

The Messinian landscape is unusually green and lush and
there are..

..many wonderful beaches along the Messinian Bay:

Zaga beach outside Koroni.

Agia Triada beach near Koroni
Vounaria, one of many picturesque small villages in the area:

The Peloponnese is like a continent in miniature.
Only 3 hours' drive from the sandy beaches of Koroni is the ski centre at Kalavrita:
